About Medicare Advantage (Part C) Plans
- How It Works
- Added Benefits
- Enrollment and Eligibility
Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans combine the benefits of Original Medicare (Parts A and B) into a single plan offered by private insurance companies. Often, they include extra perks—like vision, dental, and prescription drug coverage—that go beyond what Original Medicare provides.
How It Works
When you enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, Medicare pays a set amount to the private insurer managing your coverage. In turn, you follow the rules and network restrictions of that plan. Although you still pay any required Part B premium, many Part C plans have low or even $0 monthly premiums, plus cost-sharing for various services.
Added Benefits
One of the main draws of Part C is the extra coverage it can offer. Many plans include Part D prescription drug coverage, helping you save on medications. Some also provide vision care, dental cleanings, hearing aids, or wellness programs—items not typically covered by Original Medicare.
Enrollment and Eligibility
You’re eligible for Medicare Advantage if you have Medicare Parts A and B and live in the plan’s service area. You can generally switch or enroll in a new plan during the Annual Election Period (October 15 through December 7) or Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment (January 1 through March 31), though Special Enrollment Periods may apply if you meet certain conditions.

we’re here to all your questions
Over the years, we’ve helped countless seniors navigate their coverage choices and find the plan that works best for them.
1. How Can a Medicare Advantage Plan Fulfill My Healthcare Needs?
Medicare Advantage (Part C) typically bundles hospital, medical, and sometimes prescription drug coverage into a single plan. Many also include extra perks, such as dental or vision coverage. This can help lower your overall costs and streamline your benefits.
2. Do Any Plans Offer Surprising Extras?
Yes! Certain Medicare Advantage plans go beyond basic coverage to include perks like gym memberships, transportation to medical appointments, or allowances for over-the-counter items. These extras can make a significant difference in both convenience and savings.
3. Why Not Just Rely on Official Government Resources?
While sites like Medicare.gov are informative, the volume of information can be overwhelming. We make it easier by focusing on your specific health needs, location, and budget—so you won’t waste time sifting through every possible plan.
4. What If I Missed My Initial Enrollment Opportunity?
If you didn’t sign up for Medicare during your initial window, you may still qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) if you’ve had certain life changes (such as moving or losing other coverage). Otherwise, there are set times each year to enroll or switch plans—making it essential to know your options and deadlines.
